Your Faith Has Made You Well

“And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease,” Mark 5:34

In Mark 5, we are told of the healing of the woman who had a discharge of blood for 12 years. She could not find a cure for her disease until after years of suffering, she heard of Jesus. She believed that she would be healed just by touching Jesus’ garments. After making her way through a huge crowd, she was able to touch the fringe of his robe. Jesus stopped and asked, “Who touched my garments?” Jesus of course knew who it was but wanted to emphasize something. It was her faith that granted her access to the Kingdom of God. The woman who was healed had only heard of Jesus and what He had done for others. From the little she knew she had enough faith to believe that Jesus could do the same for her. Jesus tells us that we only need to have faith the size of a mustard seed to experience the power of God.  After years of physical suffering, it would be logical for the woman to believe that she no longer had a hope. With no sight of a glimpse of hope, it is easy to lose all faith, giving in to fear and unbelief.
There are times when our faith is tested, and it seems easy or even logical to give in to fear. However, if we want to experience the true saving power of God, we cannot give in to fear. We are commanded not to fear and to be strengthened by God. As the Scriptures say in Isaiah 41:10, “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” A little faith will crumble the walls of fear in our hearts. God more than anybody knows our sufferings and struggles. Never for a second should we be led by the fear in our hearts. As we have seen, it is our faith that opens the floodgates of Heaven into our lives. God desires to restore and renew our hearts and relationships. It can be difficult at times to see how God could ever do such a thing. However, be assured God can do the impossible. Simply believe in the promises that He has given us. God wants us to surrender our hearts to Him and stop trying to figure things out on our own. Your faith in Jesus will make you well.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light,” Matthew 11:28–30.
